Jam of the Day | Kishi Bashi - "Philosophize In It! Chemicalize With It!"

I am in late summer love with every part of this new track from Kishi Bashi's tour-only 7". The haunting looped violins, the hand claps (all good summer songs need hand claps), his haunting reverbed voice, the oohs and ahs of the chorus. It's ghostly and grounded and grooving, and if it doesn't make you want to do a Friday desk chair dance, I'm falling down on my job as the Friday Jam of the Day writer.

Groove it. Catch him on tour. North Carolina, he'll be at Cat's Cradle next week, Thursday, 9/19, doors at 8, show at 9, $14 day of. Get there. Shake your ass. Love this song.

Jam of the Day | Sweet Lights - Are We Gonna Work It Out

Shai Halperin is the man behind Sweet Lights. What is it about discovering new musical polymaths like him that makes me smile like I did as a kid on Christmas morning? His is a multi-dimensional and complex sound made by just two hands and feet, ten fingers and toes. It's walking into a dark living room and beholding an unbelievable sea of presents under the one twinkling tree. If you're into fellow luminaries Theresa Andersson and Kishi Bashi, don't miss his debut Sweet Lights, Sweet Lights, which drops tomorrow via Highline Records/Redeye. Fans of George Harrison and The Love Language will dig it too.

Get wrapped up in cozy nostalgia with "Are We Gonna Work It Out."
