Lightning 100, Nashville's indie radio station, hosted Dr. Dog and MeWithoutYou at The Ryman this past Friday night. MeWithoutYou started the night with an eclectic set of songs involving a large number of different instruments. Frontman Aaron Weiss showed off quite a bit his enthusiastic yet humble personality. The 5-piece experimental group plans to release their next album this summer.

Dr. Dog hit the stage and the Mother Church audience stood and immediately started dancing. Dr. Dog, in my opinion, is one of the most underrated rock bands of the 2000's. Dr. Dog's beautiful harmonies and  Every aspect from frontman Toby Leaman's classic voice, to Scott McMiken's wicked guitar solos and all the harmonies created throughout the whole group make Dr. Dog the loveable band that they are. Dr. Dog is currently on tour supporting their most recent record, Live at a Flamingo Hotel. Dr. Dog has some special performances coming up this summer at Shaky Knees Music Festival, and in Scottsdale with Wilco and Madison Square Garden with Dispatch.

Photos | Sturgill Simpson + Anderson East at 3rd & Lindsley in Nashville

Sturgill Simpson, a rising country artist who calls Nashville home, played two back-to-back sold out shows at 3rd and Lindsley this past weekend. Local radio station, Lightning 100, presented Sturgill's second show for their Nashville Sunday Night showcase. Simpson just wrapped up a winter tour to support the release of his most recent album, Metamodern Sounds in Country Music. Simpson is preparing to go back out again on tour later this month, but will make an appearance at the Grand Ole Opry before he hits the road again.

His opening act Anderson East had the crowd mesmerized as soon as he opened his mouth. East is also a Nashville based artist, but has a gritty Americana sound that complimented Simpson well. East just announced on Monday that he will release his debut record, Delilah, on July 14 through Low Country Sound and Elektra Records.
