The Delta Riggs are currently in their home country of Australia opening for The Foo Fighters, but come March they'll be down in Austin, Texas for SXSW. Their schedule includes five shows:

"We love SXSW! Every year is an adventure that brings with it a ton of great stories as well as a few bruises (usually). We've had the pleasure of playing SXSW the last several years, and being from Austin, it makes us very proud. It's great to get to see all of the bands we've met out on the road congregating in our amazing city, all at the same time. This year we're particularly excited, because we have a ton of new songs to showcase. Over the last several months we've been working on a new record (which we're set to start recording soon after SXSW), and we couldn't be more pumped to share them. We did a "pay-what-you-want" online show at Blue Rock Artist Ranch & Studio a couple weeks ago and played several of them for people all around the world. "SXSW is hectic. Plain and simple. If you go there with a plan (better than no plan), things will change, morph and eventually turn into something entirely different than you expected. We're excited to meet some new people (like Bob Dylan), hopefully find a new home for our booking needs and just play our little hearts out! We traveled quite a bit last year and Austin is by far one of our favorite cities in the country...and although SXSW isn't the best representative of what Austin is all about, it definitely gives you a better worldview. Jam of the Day | Jesse Thomas - You I Want

How did I fuck this up?
I should have held my tongue.

I usually say nothing or blurt out entirely too much. I'm sure many of you can relate -- you know, the perfect formula for a common disaster. I don't know the meaning of  "just enough."

Singer-songwriter Jesse Thomas seems to have that same kind of mentality, and that's sort of why I love her. Today's JOTD shows off Thomas' lyrical tendency to say whatever is on her mind, and still go after the prize. Sung over a catchy melody, Thomas' twenty-something-year-old voice sounds a bit weathered, like she's told this story a thousand times, which is probably true.

Fresh off her performances at SXSW, Thomas' future is looking bright and cheery these days. Have a listen to "You I Want," off her debut Hazel EP, below.

Jam of the Day | Chikita Violenta - Tired

Way back in August, Arts & Crafts announced the addition of Mexico City’s Chikita Violenta to its stable lineup of artists, with plans to release the band’s third full-length, TRE3S - their first outside of Mexico - in North America on January 25th.

TRE3S actually sounds like it was recorded in Canada. And after learning the sessions were conducted by producer Dave Newfeld of Broken Social Scene/Los Campesinos!/Super Furry Animals fame, it all makes so much sense! Somehow the sun-drenched psychedelia still shines through as we're constantly reminded of the indie-goodness that has come to signify Arts & Crafts itself.

Ahead of TRE3S’ North American release, the band is eagerly making available our Jam of the Day, “Tired,” and it's fellow album track “All I Need’s A Little More.” You can grab them below by giving up that email address.

A North American tour is in the works beginning in February, and Chikita Violenta has already been announced to perform at next year’s SXSW. They will be announcing dates shortly.
