Jeff Tweedy to Release Solo Album, Tour With New Band for North American Summer Tour

How's this for Monday Morning news?

Wilco's Jeff Tweedy will be releasing a solo album and touring North America with a new band this summer. The new band, you ask? Well.

It will feature "Tweedy’s 18-year old son Spencer Tweedy (The Blisters, Mavis Staples) on drums, Jim Elkington (The Horse’s Ha, Eleventh Dream Day) on additional guitars, Darin Gray (On Fillmore, Brise-Glace) on bass and Liam Cunningham (Marrow) on keyboards."

More from the press release:

"Concerts will be loosely staged in at least two parts: the band performing songs from a soon-to-be-released Jeff Tweedy solo album and Tweedy performing songs from his Wilco/Uncle Tupelo catalog solo acoustic."

Rock on, kids. Be not so nervous, be not so pale.

Interpol Hits the Road, Leaves Carlos D. at Home

Interpol is set to head out on the road this summer which is news you are mandated to love as a music fan and decent human being - even if they will be heading out without empty-holster wearing bassist Carlos D. (who in my opinion single-handedly brought back the mustache).

The announcement came via the following email:

We're getting back on the bus, traveling across some fine regions of our great states - and we're making stops... Yes, as in, playin' shows. Go to interpolnyc.com where we'll be posting tour dates/cities, and for a limited time, pre-sale tickets will be available directly from the band, with no third party involvement, thus creating a less expensive price per ticket. We're looking forward.

Thank You, Interpol

So go snatch up those cheap tickets, which from what I can tell are around $35. Not too shabby considering they're opening up for freaking U2 in Europe later this year.
