Jam of the Day | Jim James - A New Life

Let's get one thing clear .... there's so much more stardust when Jim James is near.

I'm jamming to Jim today and his new solo record that was just released this week. What a treat that I get to share my favorite song on the album with you. "A New Life" has sucked me in completely. It builds like a great and epic idea forming in your head, and I also hear tinges of a 50s rock love song. Enjoy.

Jam of the Day | Born Ruffians - With Her Shadow

Everyone! This song!

I can't get enough, I keep going back to the YouTube video (below) for this new single by Born Ruffians. It's been about 3 years since this Toronto, Canada group has put anything out, but they've crafted something extremely special and will be releasing it soon. I could describe all the different elements about this song that make it so wonderful, but I don't operate that way. I'm a listener, not a technically trained musician. I just don't get that language. But, I can tell you that this song hits me. And the beginning reminds me of Paul Simon's Graceland. Give em' a listen and if you like them, do what we do - tell all your friends.

Jam of the Day | Thunderbitch - My Baby Is My Guitar

Are you a fan of Alabama Shakes? Of course you are.

My Jam of the Day comes to you via Thunderbitch, a side project of Alabama Shakes leading lady - Brittany Howard. According to their Facebook page, Thunderbitch played their first and last show this past December, so who knows if we'll ever hear anything like this again, but now you know it happened.

Oh what a name.

PS - My favorite moment in the song is at the 2:50 mark ... check it out.
